Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, the leading paint solution brand in Bangladesh, announced the renewal of its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, for the “Berger Award for Student of Fine Art, DU” program. The MoU renewal ceremony was held on 28th April at the Berger Corporate Office.
The ceremony was attended by Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU, Md Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Chief Operating Officer, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Tanzeen Ferdous Alam, Chief Marketing Officer, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Md. Abul Hashem Khan, legendary artist and Emeritus Professor of the Department of Oriental Art of the Faculty of Fine Arts, along with other dignitaries from Berger Paints and the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU. The occasion celebrated the extension of the collaboration for another five years, starting in April 2024.
Since its inception in 2017, the “Berger Award for Student of Fine Art, DU” program has been instrumental in recognizing and nurturing talent among the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU. Under this program, Berger has been presenting a total of nine scholarships annually, including recognition for department-wise best students and the coveted Student of the Year award.
In a move to further enrich the collaboration, Berger is increasing the awards’ monetary values significantly and introducing a new award, “Berger Illusion Art Competition”, as part of the renewed MoU. Along with the previous nine scholarships, the addition of this new category takes the total number of awards to 10. The addition of this competition reflects Berger’s commitment to promoting diverse forms of artistic expression.
During the ceremony, Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, expressed her delight at extending the collaboration with DU’s Faculty of Fine Arts. She emphasized Berger’s dedication to fostering talent and supporting the arts in Bangladesh, stating, “Berger Paints is honored to acknowledge the exceptional talent of the students at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, through the ‘Berger Award for Student of Fine Art’ program. We are pleased to renew our partnership with the university’s Faculty of Fine Arts, affirming our ongoing support for its outstanding students. Since 1996, Berger has also organized the ‘Berger Young Painters’ Art Competition (BYPAC)’ to support and empower young artists throughout Bangladesh. These initiatives have played a pivotal role in enhancing the cultural fabric of the country. We are committed to fostering creativity and innovation within the local art community.”
Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU, also expressed his appreciation for the continued collaboration with Berger Paints. He highlighted the significance of the partnership in providing opportunities for students to showcase their artistic talents and gain recognition on a national platform. “The renewal of the MoU with Berger Paints is a testament to the enduring partnership between our institutions,” said Professor Hossain. “We are grateful for Berger’s continued support in promoting artistic excellence among our students. The introduction of the ‘Berger Illusion Art Competition’ adds a new dimension to our collaboration and opens up exciting possibilities for our budding artists.”
